Stencils and Templates

Templates keep manufacturers in line, ensuring materials are cut to exact specifications. Fluted polypropylene and styrene from Piedmont Plastics are durable and work well for stencils and templates.

Stencils and Templates

Stencils and templates are used to recreate shapes, images, or lettering across multiple surfaces or locations. They are made by cutting the desired shapes out of a solid material, allowing the ink or paint to pass through onto the substrate only where the design has been removed. Stencils and templates are widely used in many industries–from arts and crafts lettering to templates for residential countertop installation–and can be disposable or reusable.

Stencils and templates can be made from various types of paper, wood, metal, or plastic materials. Because plastic is durable, light, flexible, and moisture resistant, it far outperforms other materials for most stencil and template applications. Fluted Polypropylene (Coroplast) and high impact styrene are two plastic materials that are widely used in these types of applications. Some stencils are used with permanent or removable adhesives to ease the application process in cramped or challenging locations.

Piedmont Plastics stocks a wide variety of plastic sheet materials to meet the needs of any stenciling or template application. We carry a wide range of material types and thicknesses as well as removable and permanent adhesives. Our team of experts can advise and help choose the best materials for your unique project.
