Polystyrene is a synthetic polymer product that comes in foam or solid form. It is one of the most common plastics in the world. Molded or sheet polystyrene is used for packaging, bottles, trays, dishes, disposable razors, and many other objects. High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) can be used in many print applications, including promotional signs, display materials, garden stakes and tags, posters, and retail packaging, as well as 3D lenticular or moving images (images that give an illusion of depth or movement).

HIPS is specifically formulated for use in graphic arts applications. This material offers economy, durability, design versatility, and ease of fabrication. Styrene sheets offer superior characteristics such as exceptional flatness, minimal size limitations, die-cut capabilities, thermal stability, and low moisture absorption, making them ideal for various printing methods, including offset, screen, lithographic, digital, and flexographic printing. HIPS is ideally suited for high speed digital printing equipment.

Piedmont Plastics stocks high impact polystyrene (HIPS) in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses. Our cut-to-size service is readily available for your unique application. Contact us today for more information!
