What is King ColorCore?

King ColorCore is a unique and vibrant plastic-laminate material. It uses a poly-fusion (fusion by heating two plastics) to create rich colors. Below are some benefits of King ColorCore:

• Vibrant colors and engraving capabilities: King ColorCore is known for its vibrant colors, making it "pop" compared to other plastics. The polyfusion process creates multiple layers of color, making it ideal if you want to engrave letters or shapes.

• Ease of fabrication and machining: As a sturdy material ideal for engraving, it also is easily machined. This makes King ColorCore an excellent material for molding into whatever shape you once with relative ease.

• High-impact resistance and durability: King ColorCore is an HDPE(high-density polyethylene) material despite being easy to machine and engrave. This makes it resistant to most impacts and durable over the long term. It can be upgraded into King FlameShield for ASTM E-84 Class A or B Flame Compliance.

• Resistance to warping, rot, and delamination: King ColorCore is naturally resistant to the elements, including moisture, warping, cracking, and rotting. It can also be upgraded to King MicroShield, which protects algae, bacteria, and fungi.

King ColorCore: Density, Tensile Strength, and Elongation Properties

• Density: The density of King ColorCore is 0.955 g/cc (grams per cubic centimeter), which qualifies it as HDPE. This means it's got great durability and qualifies as marine-grade plastic, making it potentially waterproof in some applications.

• Tensile Strength: ColorCore has a tensile strength (at yield) greater than 4,100 psi (pounds per square inch), making it quite resistant. This means that if the pressure it receives exceeds 4,100 psi, it won't permanently deform the plastic. The tensile impact of ColorCore is 115 ft.lbs./in.(2), which indicates it can take a fair bit of impact before it fractures. This makes it more durable than many plastics but not the most durable.

• Elongation Properties: Regarding King ColorCore, its elongation at break is greater than 600, while the elongation at yield is 9.8. This means it deforms below average and takes much force to pull apart, which is good. The elongation test pulls apart the plastic, testing when it deforms (the "yield) and when it breaks (the "break"). This is important for determining the long-term durability of King ColorCore.

When comparing King ColorCore to alternative materials, you must consider different criteria such as cost, strength, and more. Let's take a look at some of the differences between King ColorCore and other materials:

• King MediGrade: A form of ColorCore that implements antimicrobial technology. This makes it ideal for medical environments, including hospital wall panels, nurse stations, and restrooms.

• King Plasti-Shield: An effective shielding material from King with 5% boring. It's an HDPE great for medical vaults, nuclear reactors, and research applications.

• King KPC HDPE: An HDPE known for high thickness and approval from the FDA, USDA, and FPA for food containers and equipment. It's ideal for skating rinks, livestock containment, and for use as machined parts.

• Vycom Playboard: Another HDPE material that is similar in that the inside core and outside layer are different colors. It's protected against UV and ideal for playgrounds, metric boards, and signage as an alternative.
