When the COVID-19 pandemic began spreading across North America, many essential businesses quickly scrambled to find ways to keep people safe while they worked and shopped. The first protective application that many companies implemented were clear barriers that create safer space between employees and customers. These safety partitions and cashier barriers helped tremendously, however they are only effective when cleaned and sanitized properly and on a regular basis.
How to Properly Clean and Disinfect Plastics
At Piedmont Plastics, we offer a wide variety of plastic cleaners for almost any application. One of the most popular plastic cleaner brands available is Brillianize. It is specifically formulated to clean, preserve, and protect plastic surfaces such as acrylic and polycarbonate. Not only can it clean these clear plastic materials, but it can also be used to clean glass surfaces. Furthermore, using the appropriate cleaner is just one part of the solution. It is vital that you use microfiber cloths to clean the surface of your plastic, otherwise irreversible damage to the surface can occur. It is important to keep this in mind if you want to maintain the optical clarity of your barrier, and we recommend that you follow the instructions on the label of your cleaner to achieve the ideal cleanliness and protection.
Although cleaners can be used to keep the surface of your barrier clear, it will not fully disinfect the material unless it clearly states it on the label. Before attempting to sanitize your application, we highly encourage that the user wears the proper equipment to avoid harm and contamination. Once the user puts on their cleaning equipment, they should make sure the surface is clean and free of dirt and debris. If the surface is dirty, we recommend using a gentle warm dish washing soap followed by a rinse with clean water. After the surface has dried, you can then apply the proper disinfecting solution and follow the manufacturers disinfecting guidelines that are provided with each product. Please keep in mind that some disinfectants require a specific amount of contact time with the surface, otherwise it may not be sanitized properly. After your plastic application has been disinfected, you can use the Brillianize solution to clean the surface.
NOVUS Plastic Polish
Once the plastic barrier has been cleaned and sanitized, you can opt to polish, clean, and repair your material for greater clarity and shine. One popular plastic polish brand we recommend is the NOVUS Plastic Polish. NOVUS Plastic Polish is your one-stop solution for restoring and revitalizing all plastic, acrylic and fiberglass products. For home or industrial use, NOVUS Plastic Polish has formulated a complete system to protect, clean, polish and restore plastic protective solutions. There are three NOVUS polish products to choose from:
