Printed Circuit Boards

Printed circuit boards require a special composite that resists heat & water and has the right electrical properties. Piedmont Plastic has these polycarbonate materials with CNC cutting service.

Printed Circuit Boards

Printed circuit boards are made up of a non-conductive substrate laminated to copper sheet that has been etched with lines and pads to connect electronic components. These boards are used in nearly every computerized device available today and are made using a variety of plastics products, including specific polycarbonate substrates. Polycarbonate is commonly used in circuit board test fixtures, which are drilled in the same pattern as a circuit board to test its safety and efficiency.

One of the most commonly used polycarbonate substrates for printed circuit boards is a composite material made from woven fiberglass cloth and flame resistant epoxy resin binder. This solution allows for the lamination of copper sheet on one or both sides. This material is ideal for printed circuit boards because of its incredibly low water absorption, electrical properties and high performance in both dry and humid conditions.

Piedmont Plastics carries a large selection of specific polycarbonate materials for printed circuit boards, and our specialized CNC cutting services are available in over 40 locations throughout North America to make sure you get your solution exactly right.
